Overview
Aurora is an application designed to help women track their menstrual cycles simply and intuitively. It also provides valuable resources to support women in managing daily stress, such as tracking mood variations and offering guided meditations. Aurora aims to help women stay calm and maintain inner balance, even during the most challenging times.
Aurora
The brand name Aurora was carefully chosen to align with the concept of cosmic rhythms and capture the essence of beauty, creativity, and illumination. Aurora, also known as the polar lights, is a stunning natural light display visible in high-latitude regions, featuring dynamic patterns of light that can take on various forms. In Roman mythology, Aurora was the goddess of dawn, symbolizing the start of a new day and associated with the Latin word “aurum,” meaning gold.
By selecting Aurora as the brand name, I aim to evoke a sense of wonder normally associated with the natural spectacle of the polar lights. I wanted the brand to be correlated with creativity, freshness, and illumination, attributes commonly linked with the name Aurora. Aurora perfectly embodies the essence the brand and what I wanted to represent.
The logo
In many myths and traditions, menstruation is believed to synchronize with the moon as an ideal ritual. This idea that menstrual cycles should align with cosmic rhythms is a prevalent belief in traditional communities worldwide.
If we leave science aside, we can say that women are lunar, full of cycles and phases.
Drawing inspiration from the moon’s orbit around the Earth, I designed a logo that incorporates lunar imagery to symbolize the natural and cyclical nature of women’s bodies. The lunar-inspired design conveys a sense of harmony with cosmic rhythms and traditions surrounding menstruation.
THE DESIGN PROCESS
During the creative process, I came to the realization that incorporating a circular shape was crucial to the logo’s composition. This circular shape was chosen to symbolize the natural and cyclical nature of women.
To further enhance the logo’s visual appeal and keep the brand imagery fresh and modern, a fluid gradient background was created. This gradient is adaptive for different devices and usages and serves as a strategic way to evoke the aurora lights and reinforce the brand’s messaging.
